Welcome to Colegio Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia, Puerto Rico Portal
Greetings and blessings to all! My name is Diana Gabriel and I am your new Director of Operations and Senior Community Liaison and Public Relations Officer. It is a pleasure and an honor to belong to the amazing Altagracia family. Holding over 29 years of experience in the field of education and school administration, I am committed to uphold and carry out the philosophy and vision of Colegio Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia, an Equinox Academy. I share with the executives of this school the same passion and mission for the betterment of the education system in our island. Altagracia PR is a school that distinguishes itself for being student-centered and culturally and socially inclusive. Providing an environment and a culture that promotes relationships of respect, solidarity, and empathy, Altagracia PR offers a bilingual, face-to-face, and distance learning education that builds character and transforms youth through superior education, performing arts, and leadership skills. Showing to be at the forefront with the needs and demands of the current times and the future, Altagracia PR is a 21st century educational school where students are the focus of our mission and where all children are welcome and celebrated for their individuality and diversity.
My life and career have taken me in the path of education and administration in public schools within the metropolitan and surrounding areas. I am a native born in San Juan. My childhood years were spend in Carolina. I moved later to Trujillo Alto, where I have been living for the past 35 years. I graduated from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus with a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Special Education. I completed my Master Degree in School Administration and Supervision from the University of Phoenix in 2004. Moreover, with the Puerto Rico Department of Education, I hold a School Director and Superintendent Certification, a Regular and Special Education Teacher Certification, and a Preschool Teacher Certification. I worked as a teacher for 19 years. During this time, I taught all basic subjects at different grade levels. Also worked as a School Director for 10 years. During those years, I was able to lead three schools in the San Juan and Caguas area. My 29 years of combined professional experience took place under the Puerto Rico Department of Education.
At a personal level, together with my husband, son, and our three dogs we are a God loving and fearing family. On my spare time, I really enjoy exercising, biking, and working in my garden. As a humanitarian, one of the most important aspects in my life is the love and respect for animals. In my daily commuting, I have a driving route where I stop to feed abandoned and stray dogs awaiting for their meals while showing immense gratitude. Every day, I take away more from their gesture of gratitude than what I can ever offer them.
Serving the student body is my passion and the field of education is my calling. I am excited to meet our students and thrill to embark in this new journey along their side, engaging in rich and adventurous experiences that will expand their social and academic future as the next generation of leaders. I look forward to getting to know each one of our students as well as their parents and legal guardians!
May God bless you and continue to guide your path. See you soon!
